Men’s Bicycles – What is the Right Kind of Bike for Me?
There are four main types of men’s bicycles for you to choose from. Your selection will depend on why you’re buying the bike.
Men’s Bicycles
Road Bikes are designed for riding on paved streets and for going fast. Like racing bikes you see on Tour de France, they have skinny tires, a lightweight frame and a riding position that puts you bent over the handlebars.
Choose this bike if you want to travel long distances or cycling fast.
Mountain Bikes have wide tires, usually with knobbly treads and a stout frame, they’re designed to handle rugged trails without breaking up. You sit in a more upright position with straight handlebars, instead of being hunched over as you are on a road bike.
Mountain bikes don’t go as fast as road bikes, but they’re more comfortable to ride and you can go off road on them.
Hybrid Bikes are a compromise between Road and Mountain bikes. With skinnier, smoother tires, they can go faster than mountain bikes, yet feature the same upright seat and handlebar position. They offer the best features of both if most of your riding will be shorter trips on pavement.
Hybrids are best men’s bicycles for city riding, and offer speed, durability and comfort.
Cruiser Bikes are the bikes that you’ll often see at the beach. More simple mechanically, they have wide tires, wide seats, upright handlebars and maybe a gear or two.
Cruisers are easy to maintain but work best with flat terrain and a rider whose main interest is more about being comfortable than with going fast.
